The two greatest callings we have in this life are to teach and to serve; the greatest of these is to serve.
In my original plan, I was to have completed the Explorers Grand Slam - Last Degree (see Project Description & Schedule) with my attempt in April 2019 to summit Mount Everest. Due to a medical issue, I did not reach Everest's summit. The medical issue having been resolved, I returned to Aconcagua and reached the summit on January 24, 2020. In June I will return to Denali to attempt its summit. Whether I return to Everest I will decide after Denali. What I did accomplish so far I am very happy with:
In less than three years, beginning at age 62, I climbed my first mountain (Rainier), summited six of the eight Grand Slam peaks (Elbrus, Kilimanjaro, Carstensz Pyramid, Kosciuszko, Vinson, Aconcagua) partially climbed the remaining two Grand Slam mountains (Denali and Everest), summited the eastern USA's and the Caribbean's highest mountains (Mitchell and Pico Duarte), and reached the North and South Poles from the last degree of latitude. This brought me to all seven continents and the North Pole in less than two years. The places I have seen and the people I have met have been amazing experiences.
Please consider donating to my charity --- it's not too late.
